Hi,

I am frequently at 100% usage on my 4690K since i frequently use sony vegas 13 and i host non-dedicated Ark Server so it get my CPU usage to 100% and i get some FPS drops when i host in Ark and the encoding time in Vegas is really long.

So i was thinking to go 4790(350), or 4790k(403) or Ryzen 7(600 with all component change)

Thanks for help

When you're encoding, you're generally loading your CPU 100%. It won't matter if you have 4 or 8 or 64 cores - if you load all of them, you're going to see FPS drops in your server. You could limit Vegas to only using 3 cores when you're gaming, or maybe even just 2, and see if that fixes your drops.

I don't do both at the same time but when i play Ark hosting i get soo much FPS drops...
And Sony Vegas i think it take too much time to encode sometimes

And i have frequently many programs open at the same time

As in a separate PC for your Ryzen CPU setup.

Solution

The i5 won't be able to run a server well though, which is what i'm getting at with the dedicated Ryzen rig.
@OP, I thought you said your budget was $600 right?
With only a little more you can get a separate rig for the Ryzen system and let it run the server while you use your current PC to game. Another option is to just get Ryzen and game with that, but then you're selling your i5.
I'm saying, use the Ryzen rig for the server AND for rendering in Vegas Pro 13, and then that frees up a heap of room for your i5 to work its magic uninterrupted by anything.

Here's a cheaper version. Well worth saving for.

On a non-dedicated server the max total of people is only 4 right? or am I wrong? Also Ark is un-optimized as hell.

How much ram do you have? Ark eats a lot of ram, when I play singleplayer it uses about 10gb of ram, so if you have 8gb, it might not be enough.
Also what gpu do you have? Ark is not cpu intensive at all, with how many people do you play this game?

in Sony Vegas I can imagine the r7 1700 be a good upgrade but dont pin me on it since I never used it before.

I assumed the max total people was about 32 for Ark community servers, I don't actually play the game myself so I suppose I wouldn't know. ^.^
@OP, if this is the case an i7 4790k will suit you just fine I presume, its a very cost effective upgrade too.
If you don't have a CPU cooler already get the Cryorig H7.

Wow didn't have any notification on that gg lol

got three choices: 4770 for 300 4790 for 370 or 4790K for 430 id say all minus 250 so it would be 50(Iidk Import charge since its from australia and i am canada)/120(import included)/180(Imp. Incl.) and for Ram i've got 12Gb but can add 4 when i want since i've got a few sticks

Also don't forget prices are canadian prices
