I know that if you want t0 build a gaming pc and only for gaming you should go with the i5s but is there no difference between i5 and i7 or is there at least a small difference? If so how noticible or does is also depend on the game

Solution
Performance
Intel Core i7 is a high-end processor. The higher clock speed, bigger cache and hyper-threading features in i7 processors make them more suitable than i5 processors for certain applications like video encoding, data crunching, graphics-intensive work, multitasking, and high-end gaming.

Gaming Performance
According to a study by APC, the difference between the Core i5-3450 and the top-end Core i7-3770k is about 10%. With 1080p, the i5-3450 delivered 81.6fps on Crysis, while the top Core i5, i5-3550 delivered 86.7. The i7-3770K delivered 89.3fps.

Video Editing
According to APC Magazine, there is some benefit to using i7 if ripping DVDs and converting them to .MKV files. However, they suggest that the i5-3750K is the best...

According to APC Magazine, there is some benefit to using i7 if ripping DVDs and converting them to .MKV files. However, they suggest that the i5-3750K is the best option, as it is perfectly between the i5-3450 and the i7-3770K in terms of performance, but is far closer to the i5-3450 in price.

Price
i5 systems are typically cheaper than comparable i7 systems by about $150. According to APC Magazine, only $40 separates the different i5 chips, with a $120 difference between i5 and i7.

Solution
There's a difference. Very small, but there is. There are a few selected games like watch dogs and battlefield 4 that benefits a bit more, since they're cpu intensive. On my old gtx 770 first set up I had it paired with an i5 4670, and if I remember correctly my lower fps on battlefield 4 single player ultra "rain stage" was 48. After I upgraded to a 4790k, using the same video card the lower fps was 55. But then again, this depends. If you are building a high end set up, I would say just go for the best there is and take the i7. If not, the 4690k will hold it very way nevertheless.

2-10 FPS difference at same speeds, depending on game tipe(CPU demanding games), but with i5 you can get a good performance, all depends on your hardware configuration(GPU,MOBO,RAM, and others factors like Overclocking for instance).
The diference are in Level 3 cache 6MB on i5 compared to 8MB on i7, and HT enable on i7 having 8 threads.

So, if budget is not an issue for you, get the i7, if it is, then get the i5 and save some money for the GPU where the performance difference will be noticiable among different cards.

Thanks all for the feedback. I think I'll go with the i7 since I found out I can get a $10 discount on it and not the i5

Isn't that for servers?

It's basically a i7 without the built in graphics.
Even if your not going to be overclocking now I would still get the i7 4790K processor paired with a Z97 board to allow to do it in the future.
Or you could get the 4790K and pair it with a lower priced H97 board to just use the higher clock speed of the 4.4GHz turbo.
And most of the information you received here is wrong.
This was right
i7 = streaming, video editing
i5 = gaming
