[SOLVED] i7 12700K Build - Budget $1300 no gpu

Could anyone give a quality part list for an i7 12700K build please? I currently have an i5 4690k and GTX 970. I want to upgrade the whole PC except the 970 graphics card, i'll continue using this card until i find a need for a new graphics card.
My budget would be around ~$1,300.

What I do: i play fortnite and some older games. I want to get high fps (144) on fortnite, but my i5 4690k is bottlenecking my 970, and i understand the 970 will bottleneck the i7, but will get better frames. I want to get into streaming and video making as well, hence going for an i7. Is an i7 12700k a good choice for a gaming/streaming build or would Ryzen be more efficient/cheaper? Resolution: 1080p

Should I be getting DDr5 RAM, and a liquid cooler for this i7? How big of a power supply should i be going for, considering i may upgrade to a better graphics card eventually, nvidia 3000 series. I was told that a quality power supply is very important for a build, what should I specifically be looking for in a quality psu other than wattage?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I used Toms hardware to build my last PC, which was 7 years ago and it's still running, just getting slow. Thought I would come back for advice before making any purchases!

As far as I know, a 12700k is OK on air cooling unless you want a heavy overclock or simple personal preference/hobbyist intentions in favor of liquid.

Better that you get a high quality 550 watt PSU than a random 800 watt unit.

DDR5 is still very high priced. Maybe you can squeeze it in at your 1300 budget? Probably 2 sticks of 8 gb each in a matched kit.

You might be able to save 100 if you are OK with a micro ATX board, but there aren't many around yet.

How many drives and what capacities do you need? SSDs near mandatory for all drives, but not a lot of variation among them in real world use.

No Windows license to be paid for from that 1300?

No monitor, keyboard, mouse?

Case preference is highly personal. Maybe you want a side window? Maybe you want a lot of bling? Maybe you don't much care what it looks like? Some cases will limit CPU cooler choice due to relatively narrow width.

Where will you buy the parts? What vendor?

I have an 750w evga bronze b2. I'm thinking i could just reuse this one, but its 7 years old and probably should get a new one.
There isn't anything wrong with going with ddr4 instead of the ddr5 for future proofing it right? Thinking 16gb is enough for me.
I want to get a full-sized motherboard.
I want to get a 1tb SSD that goes into the motherboard, instead of plugging it in with a cable and laying it in the bay in the case. This is better right?
I bought windows 8.1 and upgraded it to windows 10 on my current build, i cant reuse the code from 8.1 and get 10 again on the new build right? It's only for one build at a time? I'm assuming i'll need a new code.
No monitors, keyboard or mice!
I'm going to be going to a micro center this weekend!

Link to your particular Microcenter store might help if all parts will come from there in a face to face transaction.

I'd guess nearly everyone here would say to get a new PSU, given the existing is 7 years old. Seasonic is usually a good choice, but you need to specify what model specifically.

I don't believe in so called vague "future proofing". If your budget was unlimited, yeah get DDR5, but the chances of you noticing the difference if you didn't know which was inside are very small. If you go with DDR4, will you have buyer's remorse 6 months from today?? I don't know, you might?

I can't help you on liquid cooling. Others can. Multiple choices available, but your chosen case will affect your cooling choice.

Yes, SSDs are trending toward cable-less variety. Usually M.2 2280 specification that connects directly to the board. Some boards can accept 1 of them; some 2, some 3. But performance differences outside of benchmarks are minimal. But, all the cool kids want the latest and greatest, so..............

I'd at least consider 2 hard drives. One for Windows and applications; the other for personal data and/or backup. But that's up to you.

You should certainly have a sound backup plan regardless. That may involve a second internal drive, an external drive, or both.

I don't think you'll have any Windows licensing issues, but I'm not an authority on the topic. Let others comment.

Microcenter this weekend? Might be too soon, pending how much info you can get in the next couple of days. Better to delay a week if need be to be sure you make the best choice.

Good advice!! I have a 1tb western digital HDD i could always use for a backup as well. I will upgrade the power supply just because it's old. I will also probably just go with DDr4!

Looking over Overland Park Microcenter stock:

Boot drive; available in various sizes; WD SN750, WD SN850, and Samsung 970 EVO Plus are all good choices; no need for the 850 unless your motherboard supports PCIe 4.0 and even then the difference from the 750 is minimal.

You might want to add a heatsink to it.

Power supplies; Seasonic Focus series is OK the last I heard. I see 650 and 750 watt models. Some EVGAs are OK, I don't know which.

Motherboard; I see 14 full ATX socket 1700 that would accept the 12700 CPU; but only 3 for DDR4; 2 from MSI, and 1 Asrock. I suppose that is because they are often out of stock and in high demand because they can't sell the DDR5 boards because of the high prices for DDR5 RAM:
