My friend owns a i7-2600k and he wants to upgrade to i7-6700 does he really need to upgrade or his he good since its mainly for gaming, Thanks in advance.
Ive asked myself the same question a few months back. And the answer is a clear no. The 2600k is a overclocking machine and you will not get any gaming performance upgrade from buying a 6700.
If your friend overclocks, a 2600K can very easily be around as fast as a non-overclocked 6700. Even at stock, the 2600K is still a respectable gaming chip, and should be unnoticeably slower in 99% of cases.
