Question i7-3770 boots but only black screen.

hello,
im using an msi z77a-g45 motherboard with an i5-3470. i upgraded the cpu for an i5-3570k. i noticed there is not much differend so i bought an i7-3770.
when i put the i7 i only get black screen. every fan start its booting up but the screen keeps black. when i change my old cpu back everything is fine. screen works windows works etc..
my bios version is 2.12.
should i count the i7-3770 as broken or does someone got any idea?

Version 21 added support for 3770, version 23 added 3770K....

Put in a CPU that works, and download their latest BIOS (i see versions 20 through 26, so, go with 26), then try your 3770 again... (you might need to clear/reset CMOS in between to start fresh)

If i am not wrong version 2.12 is 1 of the newest bios. Is there anything else i can check? Cause now im using mu i5-3470 again and it works fine. When i put the i7 in it boots but only black screen
