Hi, first here are my current specs:
i7-3770(boost up to 3.9GHz)
Biostar H61MLV
8gb HyperX 1866MHz (only running at 1600MHz)
RX 470 4GB
Seasonic M12II EVO 620W 80+ bronze

I'm confused about upgrading my system, if I should continue this DDR3 path. I'm planning to add another 8gb ram, get a B75 or Z77 mobo and Cryorig H7. Mobo, ram and heatsink upgrade costs 170$ since I have read that the H61 has poor VRMs for my cpu and my cpu runs hot with a max temp of 80°C.

But at the same time if I'm going to sell my current cpu,mb and ram; I can get a new Ryzen 5 1600, B450, and 8gb ddr4 3000MHz just by adding 120$.

I also want to know if R5 2600 is worth with price difference of 60$ over R5 1600.

I also discovered hints that my cpu's price(second hand) will drop here in my country and I may not be able to sell it at a good price.

Also I don't want to upgrade my gpu yet.

Can you please help me decide what to do? Thanks.

Solution
I wouldn't choose neither option. Use your platform as it is and wait for ryzen 3000 series which will be released in the next couple of months.
If you are mainly gaming ryzen 1600 wouldn't be a huge upgrade anyways.
There’s not much to expect for $60 in 2600. Nothing other than a little turn up in both base and turbo clock speeds. But 1600 will be good look forward compared to what you have at the moment.

R7 2600

Socket: AM4
Clockspeed: 3.4 GHz
Turbo Speed: 3.9 GHz
No of Cores: 6 (2 logical cores per physical)
Typical TDP: 65 W

R7 1600

Socket: AM4
Clockspeed: 3.2 GHz
Turbo Speed: 3.6 GHz
No of Cores: 6 (2 logical cores per physical)
Typical TDP: 65 W

^ I disagree, even though in some instances the ryzen is superficial performance wise over that old i7 (which is still a good cpu) in multitasking the ryzen will just crush it.

Then well optimised used games (crysis 3, witcher 3, bf series) show between 30-50% better performance.

I would say a $120 outlay to get into a modern platform is absolutely worth it, more so than sinking money into a 6 year old platform.
