I was wondering is the i7 3770S the same as the 3770k and the non k series? I never heard of an S series but does it perform like the 2 does? Is there a difference?
Yeah, for the average user/gaming PC, there's no real good reason to buy the 3770S. It does have some advance features for security but those aren't necessary unless you're in a business setting.
The 3770S has a lower core clock (3.1 GHz) and uses less power (65 watts). The 3770k has base clock of 3.5 GHz and uses 77 watts.
If you don't have a Z97 board, forget the 3770k and just get the 3770. As for performance, not too much different. They both have a turbo clock of 3.9 GHz.
