i7-4500U number of cores

I was under the impression, after reading from several different sites, that all Intel i7 processors contained 4 cores, yet when I look at my i7-4500U in CPU-Z it only shows a dual core? So am i wrong in my assumption about all i7 cores being quad core? The cpu came installed with my Asus Q550L laptop.

It's a dual core, but with hyper threading like all i7s. So 2 physical cores and 4 logical cores.

All DESKTOP Core i7 CPUs are quad-core.

The Core i7s in laptops come in dual-core and quad-core configurations.

Well actually there are desktop i7 processors with 6 and even 8 cores. But your chip is a mobile part and has 2 real cores with Hyperthreading so 2 cores 4 threads.
