Yesterday i was playing rust when i got a warning from my Asus AEGIS monitor that my cpu was running at 76 C so i shutdown and started watching the temp and at idle it was at 45-50 C while just with chrome open it was at 55 C and while playing Arma 2 was running upwards of 63 C. Are those temps something i should we worried about? Stock Fan cooling.

Voltage Right now with only Teamspeak, Aegis, CPUID and taskmanager open is at VCORE 1.752, +12V 12.288, +5V 5.04, and +3.3V 3.336. MOBO is asus g20aj. Not sure if this matters but gpu i have is a gtx 960 2gb. Chassis Fan and CPU fan are both running at 1500 rpm while CPU temp is at 57 C. Seems to be that when I close Aegis Temp drops slightly but not sure if that is just random.

And what temp is that? (Summer, winter, air conditioned, heated) This is a global board and we have no clue where you are :) (Sahara oasis or igloo dweller :) )

Playing at 65C is fine and would not worry me at all on the stock cooler, especially in that case. Idle of 45 to 50C is a lot (ten degrees) higher than I would like.

Do you have pets? Pet hair and dander can degrade cooling?

There are no simple solutions to this. You need to look at your cooler and see if it is still fixed properly to the motherboard and see if the airflow is good through the case and all the vents are free of clogs.

Hi there

I have a i7 4790K and I have a Cooler Master TX3 EVO cooler with a Noctua 92mm NF-A9x14 PWM Fan on it and when I put the i7 in to replace my i5 I was getting 70C load with the TX3 EVO and I was shocked by it as it was also throttling in stress tests at 90C.

After a bit I decided to reinstall the cooler so I took it off and wiped both the cooler and CPU with cleaning alcohol then wiped completely dry then put new thermal paste on and made sure the cooler did not move when I clicked it in as otherwise it would tear the connection with the paste.

Once installed I checked temps and I was getting 30-40C idle while browsing, listening to Spotify and playing Hearthstone.
While load with Witcher 3 when in the main city I was getting 50-60C temp load which is very good for a £15 cooler.

It will probably be that your cooler needs reinstalling, buy some new thermal paste and if you are unsure how to uninstall then reinstall a stock cooler or an aftermarket one you have there are many videos on Youtube to guide you along.

I would like to add that I did try manually setting the fan speeds on the motherboard which did work but I found I got better temps if I let the MOBO control it.
I have a Noctua 92mm on it so it can do a very high rpm.

Yea weird thing is that my computer is like those console/pc hybrids, has good specs but are really hard to upgrade/replace parts on it. I even heard that just opening the pc voids the warranty that comes from Asus. Here is the computer i currently have http://www.asus.com/Microsite/rog/GR8_G20/ mine is the g20. (Dont ask me why, got it for a present). Ill try cleaning it out and see if its just a simple fix but worst comes to worst when my grandparents bought it for me they also got 3rd party 3 year warranty so I can just get it replaced.

Did some tests, kept the computer off overnight then in the morning instead of opening ASUS Aegis to monitor the CPU temp i used CPUID and noticed that my idle temp dropped to 35 C and While playing a game stayed around 55 C, not sure what Aegis did but seems like it was the thing causing my issues.

Yea AEGIS is definetly weird, just gave me a warning saying cpu was at something like 6 billion C while CPUID says 55, dont use AEGIS if you have a Asus computer most recent update really screwed it.
