building a new pc for programing and web development purpose. initially thought to get i7 but someone here(tomshardware) suggested to get xeon. since both are same cpu with i7 faster(100mhz) for 30$ more than xeon.
i am not going to overclock(since i7 4790(non k) cant be 😛 ). so i am curious to know what should i choose xeon or i7.??

And what about mobo. can any 1050 socket mobo will work?
and does ECC rams does really matter. i know i have to get server board for ecc rams to work? i think that will be out of budget for this kind of build :)

Yes P4600 will very well handle them. You're good to go with the Xeon if you're not planning to try out any GPU intensive task. And for that matter, like even light gaming, HD 4600 will not be optimal too. So in your case, where dev work is your priority, and it'll not be used for any sort of gaming, the Xeon will work just fine :)
I would personally go with the i7 with what you are doing. You are right any LGA 1150 will fit the fourth gen Intel CPU but for the i7-4790, I recommend a H97 series which is basically what you need as the motherboard.

Xeon can be used for editing because of its hyper threading, but for a cheaper CPU and can be suitable for gaming, go with an i7.

I'd actually get E3 1241 v3, its just same 1246 with lower TDP and lower price. Essentially, Xeons are i7 w/o integrated graphics, and they'd be my choice over i7 in this case. Also, you can invest in a better MoBo (its LGA1150 not 1050) to match the CPU with. 100MHz difference is not worth $30 IMO. Xeons are server class processor and are very solid (and in no way am I saying that i7's are not solid), so it'll just be the icing on the cake.

No, you don't need ECC in your build. If you absolutely need to guarantee no errors in any calculations or web development you do, then you should use ECC memory, but I'd advise getting a non-ECC as you're not using a server platform and ECC will not really be optimal, besides the fact that they are uberly expensive.

my plan was to have this build
CPU: i7-4790
MOBO: ASUS h97M-plus
RAM: 2X4gb ddr3 corsair vengence 1600mhz
PSU: corsair cs450m 450watts

but now i think i just need to change cpu to XEON...

MeteorsRaining you are right. 1241 is around 16$(1000 rs) cheaper that 1246. and the difference is only of tdp. sorry that was typo 1150 😛
will this build be reliable ?

Ooops actually i just didnt look closely.. 1241 dont have onboard graphics http:// but 1246 has HD p4600..
and this is not going to be a gaming pc and i dont want to spent on a gpu( i dont think i can get a decent one in 20$) thus i think 1246 will be good
what u think?

Besides the PSU, everything seems good. Also, you may upgrade the memory to 2133/1400MHz with CL10 or less which'd be slightly better for dev purposes. For the PSU, I'd recommend going with SeaSonic/ EVGA/ XFX/ Antec brands with anything above 450W.

If you're not planning to invest in a GPU, then you should actually go with i7 as they've superior iGPU and performance will obviously be at par with the Xeons. HD 4600 graphics can very well run games of grid 2 level on medium settings.
