Hi guys, I just finished building my first comp and have a question about my temps. When i first turned it on and ran intel burn test, the core temps maxed out at 69-72 degrees celsius. On idle it was 30-32 degrees. I then went into bios and increased my ram from 1600 to 1866 and changed the timings to 9-10-9-28 and put commandrate at 1T. Ram voltage is at 1.500. I left cpu at stock. I then ran intel burn test again and got core temps maxing out at 79-84. Only one of them reached 84 degrees celsius for a second. Idle is 34-36 degrees. Are these normal temps?

My computer specs are:
i7-4790k
asus z97-a
gskill sniper 1866 pc314900 9-10-9-28
hyper 212 evo
evga g2 750w
radeon r9 290x asus direct2cu
corsair 300r
I used coolermaster thermal fusion 400 thermal paste

Thanks

I don't think it will be damaging per say, it should be just fine as long as you make sure that you keep the internals clean like the cooler and make sure that dust does not build up like crazy haha, that will mess with cooling.
As far as your RAM running lower than it should, do you have just the gskill RAM in there or is it mixed ram, like mine. If you have more ram that is slower the mobo will lower the speed of the higher ram. make sure that the voltage is right for your ram, usually faster rams runs at higher voltage, but don't over do it, use the factory voltage.

And yes when you up the voltage on the ram it will run faster but you will get more heat just like and OCed CPU. That might be the reason that it runs a little hotter.

Its a tad high if you ask be. I idle at 27-32 and max out at 72. I have the same CPU but with stock cooler, no OC. I don't have a GPU either but I can still play older games like Bioshock 1 at high settings, get decent FPS to. And even after a whole hour of play I don' get past 72. If you ask me the OC on your RAM is not worth the higher temps, you wont get significantly better results for the extra heat and power consumption.

It will do just fine tho, its all personal prefrence and this is just my 2 cents.
