I just finished installing my brand new I7 4790k cpu in my new build. I am using a Gigabyte gaming 7 1150 mobo and a hyper 212 evo for a cooler. When I first boot into windows, I hear the cpu fan speed up to 100%, and when I launch speedfan and Gigabytes system info viewer both, they show the cpu temp around 50c, but drops down to 23-26c after a few minutes and stays there. While gaming, I usually dont see it go higher than 55c, but under stress test saw it jump to 68-69C. Are the high temps on boot normal? Is there anything I should be worried about temp wise? I am not overclocked at all. I am pretty sure that I installed the CPU cooler correctly and I used the pea method for the cooling paste.

It'll take a while for the thermal paste to set (cure) depending on what you have. I wouldn't even worry with those temps. It will throttle at ~74-76C so you are good

I am using the thermal paste that came with the hypo 212 :). Thank you for the reassurance! I knew my temps were fairly good for this model but the boot temp is what worried me. I have literally had it installed for 6 days so letting the thermal paste cure is probably the answer. Thank you sir!
