Using Prime95 64bit 26.6 and Intel RealTemp 3.70 for 10 minutes under load, the maximum temperatures are 82°c, 84°c, 84°c, and 72°c on each core respectively. I am using a Cooler Master Nepton 140XL and not overclocking. Are these temperatures high?

Solution
I have just recently read (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/overclocking-retail-intel-core-i7-5960x-cpu,4237.html) where an authoritative tester with connections to Intel have stated that in an overclock experiment, they got the best results by keeping temperatures under 80C, since the Intel heat throttling starts to kick in at those temps.

In the sticky I read that the mid 70s are good. And also 26.6 is the version that doesn't use the weird instructions that's why I used it (this version was in the sticky for this reason). Is it possible that as I only just installed it, the thermal paste needs to take time to adjust, I'll try again later. The idle temps are around 25-35

These are my temps from RealTemp and Prime95:

the temps are 100 - the average distance from tj max.

Also CPU VCore fluctuates from 0.132V to 1.452V depending on load automatically, according to HWMonitor.

EDIT: I have set it at 1.250V in the BIOS. I get 69°c, 72°c, 72°c, and 63°c at 1.250V with Prime95 v26.6 and RealTemp 3.70.

VID is always 1.250V, Vcore goes from 0.132V to 1.272V.

I kinda found out the answer myself, with some help from another forum (LTT), and figured that I had to change the voltage from auto to manual, at 1.100V I am getting 58°c, 60°c, 60°c and 55°c after half an hour of prime95 small FFTs testing.
