i7 4790k max overclock on air ?

Solution
It all depends on what cooler you have.
Stock - Dont even try overclocking
Noctua NH-D14 - Should be able to handle 4.7ghz or 4.8 depending on the bin of your chip

Well, i have a cheap deepcool maelstorm 240t. I wanted to create this thread so that everybody can tell their achievement with what cooling and voltage. I personally with the obove not that good cooler overclocked mine to 4.7Ghz with no more than 1.2v core voltage. Is that a good thing ? Cheers

4.7 with 1.2v is a good overclock.

For me I used to get
4.7 at 1.25v
4.8 at 1.3v
4.9 at 1.36v
5 at 1.45v

I regret running it at 1.45v as the electron migration really devastated my CPU. I can no longer run at those speeds with those voltages. For 4.7, I now need 1.32v for the system to be stable. So now im running at 4.4 at 1.2v

How long have you used it with those voltages ? I also use mine at 4.4 now.

Only 4 days wow :( I thought you'll say months:) Too bad. When i overclocked mine few months ago i did some benchmarks and games and realized there is no huge difference in performance so i left it at stock. Other thing is that my cooler is not good enough for reasonable clock.
