hey im buying a mobo for my 4790k and i have a budget of $85 and i only have a few choices. i'm going to Microcenter today to buy it and i cannot order one online. im purely asking if the B85M-E will support the 4790k. the reason i ask is because i had an AMD FX-8320 and my old motherboard bottlenecked it and would constantly throttle it down and make me lose more than half my FPS when gaming.

so, question is, will the i7 4790k work okay in a B85M-E Mobo. i won't be overclocking (cuz its a freaking i7 lol), my cooler is a Hyper 212 Evo, i have 8gb 1333 memory, and an R9 280 GPU. i just want to make sure everything will work alright together. thanks!

The 4790k is an 1150 socket, so yes it'll still work with B85M-E and MAY allow for an OC (if you choose to do so down the road); how successful will depend on the MB manufacturer and BIOS version.

My advice, I'd research the board you're looking into, so you are in the know.

Good luck!

i was looking at a 4690k but im going to be livestreaming while gaming and playing very cpu intensive games (Arma games, DayZ, etc) while streaming so i needed to be sure i had plenty of "room" in terms of cpu load and had no lag spikes. but thanks for your input! i'll try it out and return it if it can't handle the CPU and just wait till i can get a better one. also the i7 4790k at the place im driving to today is only $270 ;D which is partly why i'm buying it vs a 4690k
