Hi,

I have a i7 4790K with an Asus z97 A motherboard, EVGA 650W Gold PS, 2 x 8GB 2400 mhz DDR3 RAM, Noctua D15S cooler and 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans.

I was able to achieve a stable (using RealBench) overclock of 4.6GHZ at 1.215 CPU Core voltage. My temperatures get up to mid 70s under stress tests and high 60s in games.
I have tried going to 4.7 and i keep getting BSOD regardless of how high I up the CPU voltage (went as high as 1.35).
It seems strange that i would be stable at a relatively low voltage at 4.6 but not be able to reach 4.7 at all.

Is there any other setting I need to change in the bios? I currently have set it to manual with everything on default except the multiplier and the CPU Core voltage.

Thanks !

So go in to bios, under tweaker,go down to Asus Multi core enhancement set to Auto, down to Cpu Core ratio set to Sync all cores, type 47 in first line of Core ratio limit and hit enter, all the lines should show 47. Go down to cpu voltages and set all to auto. You can also set EPU power setting to disable. Save and restart. Your Cpu volatge should be around 1.38 at auto setting.

No, just 1 hour @ 4.6 1.215V in realbench.
I guess my question is are there any other values which I should be adjusting besides vcore.

Try to raise Load Line Calibration in short LLC, my 4790k needed 1.41v for 4.7G
How is this done on an Asus z97A?
I tried upping the input voltage to 2.0 but that didn't work either.
Seems crazy that 4.6 is stable at 1.215 but 4.7 is not at at 1.35

Not sure, if that board supports LLC value change. These chips just have walls, mine had one at 4.7Ghz, was not able to achieve 4.8Ghz.
Some chips are more stable with lower input voltage, try setting it to 1.87v
4790K is obsolete just bump up the voltage until its stable.
If temps are the issue delid and put liquid metal on it, also lapping the heat spreader when its uneven can help.
I was pushing 1.41v and in the later days 1.44v Vcore, realized I will get the most out of it until it breaks.
Sold the chip this year it was still good for 4.6Ghz at 1.35Vcore.
