I have an i7 4790k CPU and when running open hardware alone it runs around 35-40C most of the time. With chrome and some stuff on it runs around 40-50C, when playing League of Legends it runs at 55-67C and spikes around a second or less for about 72-74C right when the game ends, but when i play CSGO it runs around 65C+ and I see the max around 80C. I want to know if this is normal for this CPU. If you're wondering my GPU runs between 60-65C and maxes at 70C max. I will list the rest of my computer parts.

Windows 10
i7 4790K CPU
OCZ 240GB SSD + Seagate 1TB HHD
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard
Thermaltake Toughpower 750W Gold+ PSU
Thermaltake Commander MS-I Snow Edition Case
Sapphire R9 390X GPU
Rosewill RFA-120-K 120mm Fans X3 (1 Front intake, 1 Back exhaust, and 1 Top exhaust)
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO (CPU Cooler)
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste\

Thank You!

Usually at stock speeds and under full load, the Core i7-4790K hit 74 degrees Celsius. So did you Overclock during CS:GO, if yes , then that is Normal.
Besides you should put an Extra 120mm Intake fan on Side panel or bottom panel to make your Case Flow equal [Positive=Negative air pressure]

This and if you have actually overclocked,,you should be getting these temps. It is advisable to put an intake fan.

If it isn't overclocked and you are using the 212 EVO you should expect much lower temperatures.

I run a similar setup with the same cooler and at stock clocks my cpu maxes at around 60C under 100% load. Although 80C is fine for 4790k I would suggest resitting your cooler using a minimal amount of thermal paste and make sure that your cooler has proper contact with the cpu.

Of course if you have done a heavy overclock then these temperatures are acceptable.

Edit: I should add that my room temperature is approximately 20C so if you live in the tropics these temperatures are also expected.

How how does it run on the newest Prime95 version?

I had to disable SS, because i don't need the power and i have an old cooler which the heatpipes are exhausted.

Even though your CM 212 is not the best, it should keep it under 80-90 degree in Prime95 (newest version only).

I do not overclock, and I did not run Prime95. I also can not add another fan since my motherboard only supports 3 fans so i put 2 exhaust 1 intake. Right now it is summer and my room temps is around 30C.

If you read the article I linked you, you would know if you are okay or not.
