i7-4790k with the GA Z87x-UD3H

Okay, so I have the GIGABYTE GA Z87x-UD3H and I am thinking of getting the i7-4790k. My question is will it work after just the install of the CPU? Or do I have to update the motherboard, which is something that I was reading on amazon, and other forums.

You need a bios update to support that chip. That is all

If the motherboard has a bios version older than F9 then yes you need to update to F9 or higher. You need a compatible cpu to update your BIOS through which the i7 4790k is not if the bios is lower than F9 for that motherboard.
