Download Throttlestop, go through this walkthrough : https://www.ultrabookreview.com/31385-the-throttlestop-guide/

Make sure you select Speedshift since this is a Skylake. For whatever reason, it seems Speedstep is the default value on the old motherboards as I believe the Skylakes were the first Generation of Intels to do Speedshift (8-40 or 8 to whatever ration you are overclocking) instead of Speedstep (unselect speedstep).

My stock idle temps while Speedstep was on and speedshift off were about 33C, and now 29C. At 25% load used to be at 75C, now my 100% loads are at 75 after overclocking to 44 AND overvolting by 20mV.

Thank me later.

Also, for whatever reason, Intel's XTU tool doesn't support the 6700K, which is baloney. So Throttlestop is the best alternative given some BIOS won't even let you undervolt or select speedshift. I've been fighting this CPU for a week now and Throttle stop was my Eureka moment.

I recommend tweaking the Voltage offsets by factors of 10-20mV and the overclock ratios until you get a 75C under extreme 100% load and you get a cool 30C at idle (2-5% load). You can play around with it following the principles of this guide : https://www.ultrabookreview.com/31385-the-throttlestop-guide/
