Is it worth getting a i7 6700K instead of i5 6600K with 2TB HDD and 16GB RAM? Im not a hardcore photo/video editor and im not going to make money off it, Im gaming at 1080p resolution. I could buy 2TB HDD and 16GB RAM with an i5 and save 10$ instead of a i7 6700K with 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD.

My build:
CPU: i5 or i7
CPU COOLER: Be Quiet! Pure Rock
MOBO: Z170 Pro Gaming
PSU. Corsair RM750X 750W
CASE: Phanteks Enthoo Pro
RAM: 16GB or 8GB
GPU: GTX 1060
STORAGE: WD Blue 2TB or 1TB + OCZ Trion 240GB SSD

I asked Chris R on that recently, actually. Everyone has been so focused on SSD reviews, it wouldn't surprise me if there have been advancements in spindle drives so that 5400 drives aren't as slow ( relatively ) as they were five years ago. He said he wasn't sure since no one has offered to send review samples. Personally I'd love to see how spindles perform now.

okay i will buy the 1TB Blue and maybe later, add a second one and raid it.

Sorry, not trying to be one of THOSE guy but it's 3.9Ghz boost

yes, you are correct. it is 3.5G stock / 3.9 Boost / 4.1 Mobo OC. thanks for the correction!

Not to be rude but you are overhyping DX12, Which isnt helping at all in this case.

The gains from an i5 to i7 today are generally tiny or none at all for current games. I can't see game developers pushing games to need a desktop i7 to play their games properly as it would significantly reduce the number of potential customers, it would rule out gaming laptops and anyone running more popular desktop CPU's.

... You probably won't notice a difference in gaming between an i5 and an i7 at your budget level. I would recommend taking that $100 and investing into a realable highest capacity SSD you can find. At 240gb you mostly likely will only get a couple good games on it (along with the OS other basic PC programs). If you play more then a couple games it will be the biggest bang for your buck. You can up grade the memory later, like others have stated

They still suck :)

I don't care if it spins at 15,000RPM, I wouldn't boot my OS from a mechanical drive if you paid me a million dollars to. I even threw a Sumsung SSD in the atom-powered netbook I got for free.
