i7 7700k base clock at 100% load hitting 96C...

I have a NZXT kraken x42, properly fitted (I hope) and i want to set up overclocking but i don't want to blow stuff up (exaggeration, yes). Is this bad? should I overclock or not? should i fix it some how? If so, how?

yeah the pump and fan are working for sure, maybe I fitted it wrong? should I check? This is my first build so I maay have put too much thermal paste on (about a pea sized drop) or something similar.

Check if the air blowing out is warm/hot? Thermal paste usually isn't much of a problem but you may not tighten the heatsink properly.

I would assume the cooler is not mounted properly to see temps like that. I dont get pass 75c or so under full load with a 7700k and a 30 dollar hyper 212 evo air cooler.
