I7-7700K extremely slow performance

I recently upgraded from an i5-650 to an i7-7700k. I changed to have more leway on multi processing. Since the upgrade performance went down the drain. I was running it on a g1 ga-z170mx gaming 5. I then switched to a Asus Maximus hero IX (hoping it would be better). Now on the hero the PC is even slower and boot up time of more then 2 mins

Specs:
OS: windows 10 home
Motherboard: Asus Maximus hero IX
CPU: I7-7700K
Cooler: crosair H60
GPU: Nvidia gtx 1060 6GB
SSD: crosair force LE SSD 500GB
Kingston SSD 240GB
Main HDD: ST2000LM015 2TB
RAM: 2x8GB crosair 3100Mhz

On a side note my roommate has an i7-7700k with the Maximus hero IX and never had issues.

I have not, you think it would have that much of an impact?
