Hello, i just got an i7 7700k and the temps were really high. I went ahead and underclocked it to 4.2ghz at 1.25 volts and its still reaching 70-75 degrees while gaming. I am using an aio with 2 120mm fans in push pull. Ive tried applying the thermal paste (artic mx-4) multiple times with different methods but the cpu is still running hot. I know these cpus run hot but i havent seen a single thread about it being at 4.2ghz 1.25v and running with high temps. Is there something wrong with the cpu? Should i delid it? Should i return it?

Voltage may have a lot to do with it. You could try lowering it some. I would suggest buying a decent air cooler or a 240mm+ AiO if you want to run your 7700K at full speed.

Im using a corsair h60 aio. I know its an old and crappy aio that i have had for about 2 years now. I didnt think that at stock speed the temps with the i7 would be so high.

i7 7700k's are known to run hot. Intel used bad TIM. Mine at stock 4.2Ghz gets to 89 degrees. Upgrading to an AIO may help, but I dont see overclocking in the equation. Intel also said these temps are 'normal' and 'dont overclock'. Bad decisions are being made at Intel sadly
