I own a intel DH55TC mobo and was using it with i3 530. I recently bought a used i7-870 to use with the same mobo. However when i install the i7 and try switching it on it first gives a short beep like it does when normally booting and then i get 2 long beeps which repeats itself with a 3 second gap and does not boot. I don have any video either.
Updated bios and Set bios setting to default no luck. Can someone please help.

PC still works with the old i3 530

Spec i7 870
Motherboard DH55TC
GPU GTS 450
PSU 400W
Ram 4GB corsair

Update : tried resetting the CMOS by removing the cmos battery for like 5 or 10 mins. Not sure how to do with the jumper config.

Thats what i tried doing. I replaced my old processor updated bios and switched the new one. No results. Still gives me two beeps no video and no sign of booting. Fans run at full speed and the power led flashes while beeping.

yea never switched the the pc on without the thermal paste.
I'll try the fix and ill get back asap.

Update: No luck there. It was just the same.

Where do you have your monitor plugged into? The i7 870 has no integrated graphics, so your display outputs on the motherboard will not work with that CPU installed. I'm guessing your board is trying to use the integrated graphics on the i3 530 that isn't there anymore. You can also try finding the video adapter setting in the BIOS and set it to use PCI-E only.

My video cable is plugged on to my graphic card. I don remember using the onboard graphic ever since i bought the pc. The card isn't new. I've been using this card for like years, with the i3. and never had any issues.
I'm on bios version 82 If this detail helps). the last version launched before this mobo was discontinued. and i changed the video setting in bios. However there was no option to disable onboard graphics permanently (just to make sure it doesn try to use the onboard graphic even remotely)

Am i missing something or is this CPU kaput.? What if the CPU is faulty. How will i find that out.?
Also is there a way to permanently disable onboard graphic.?

This are the reason given on that page
The processor installed does not include support for Intel® Graphics Technology. - Absolutely doesn't
You have plugged the monitor into the onboard graphics connector on the back panel. - Nope. sober enough to plug it into my GPU
You have not installed an add-in graphics card. - False.I do have a card installed and is fully functioning

Yeah, my only guess is the PCI-E controller on the i7 might be broken, and that's why it's not seeing your graphics card. You might want to inspect the motherboard pins and the bottom of the i7 to make sure there aren't any bent pins or the bottom of the CPU is dirty in some way, that might also cause the problem.

I was actually coming to that conclusion. But the seller says its fully functional and he's the only guy selling that processor online for that price. And the main reason is i've already ordered a GTX1060 and awaiting its arrival. The card would be totally wasted if paired with i3. This is the fastest processor available for my motherboard. 🙁

CPU looks quite clean to me. Not sure how to find if something is damaged. And the mother board pins. If some are bent my i3 shouldn't be working either. But my i3 works like a charm. In fact am using that processor right now while typing this message. It is working right now.!.!
