Crysis 2.... then we have to wait another 3 years for better graphics.

:)

Released game then!

I'm excited for Crysis 2 and I'm hoping it'll push my GPU setup now that Crysis is a sinch (30-40fps very smooth/playable 1920x1080 8xAA DX9, around and above 60 on 2x and 1x).

It is just a confusing subject and when some people read AMD = Intel (performance wise) in games they immediately think that in all occasions it is and always will be.

You know what I mean, and I knew what you meant. :)

Also the engine Crysis 2 uses is supposed to run better than the one for Crysis one, all while looking better 😀

Also is it just me or does Crysis seems smoother at lower frame rates than other games?

Meh Crysis is all shiny and no substinence. I got bored of it fast. Too fast in fact.

I am awaiting HL3 for better graphics cuz VALVe will make it compatable with older and newer hardware.

One can hope I guess.

IMO there aren't many pc games that can stand up to the HL2 series in terms of story line and fun. And i agree, crysis's is definitely only so popular b/c of the graphics.

I think IGN just gave HL2 the title of "Best game of the decade" and Freeman just won "Best video Game Hero Ever". Not much passes that up, along with their previous 70+ GOTY awards.

Crysis was impressive pretty wise but man they screwed the pootch. The first engine of CryEngine 2 was buggy and had a bad memory leak. The only fix for it was only in Warhead.

IDK. Crytek is young and will probably have troubles for a while. I guess I will stick with the tried and trues.

Crysis sucked as far as gameplay and story go.

Wish I would have had this GPU setup back when I enjoyed the game (the first couple weeks I had it).

HL2 deserves all the love it gets. Those games are revolutionary (not including all the Episodes) whenever they release and even their mods/half games are best sellers.

All we need now is HL3!!!

Mmmm, HL2 was great. Sorry, IS great. Just as jimmysmitty said, it won Best game of the Decade, and Freeman topped Mario in best video game hero of all time.

That speaks for itself. I didn't buy crysis (and actually never played it) because it's all shiny without substance.

The CryEngine, still, in my eyes, is spaghetti code. Runs slow, takes up waay too many hardware resources, etc. Don't get me wrong. it has great visual effects, but it's efficiency is at best 70%.

The Episodes are good, but don't raise the bar like previous HL series games.

I love where this thread is going. xD Cheers.

Just wanted to pont this out in games and I7 975xe is at 3.33 and is on par or beat or wins by give or take a few fps. This is compared to a P2 965 at 3.4. 100mhz isnt going to make a difference. Even a 3.2 ghz 955 can beat an i7 975 in some games like far cry 2 at 1680 by 1050. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i7-975,2318-8.html . Look at the gaming benchmarks.

I can't help but notice that the bench you brought up is flawed. A C2Q beat the i7 series, and the Phenom IIs.

Got to remeber though. Look at the new games. The i7 has a small lead. It is just because the i is new and games for than 2 years old were never optimized for it

That still doesn't cut it for me.
If you want unbiased, un-optimized benchmarks, then go for synthetics. Games take most (95% ±5%) of the processing power in the graphics card anyhow.

I remember the Maximum PC review:

11/10. I think thats the only game to ever get a higher than max score.

The Episodes are amazing in their own right. EP2 was just.... well story wise just blew everything away emotionally. And VALVe keeps em coming. Portal 2 is set for October 26th this year. I am pretty excited. I think EP3 will be great as a ending to the HL2 arc and then VALVe will make Half Life 3 do what Half Life and Half Life 2 did, change the FPS game.

Hell I barley got into TF2 a year after I got the OB and I have 1000 or so hours on it. Love my Demoman.

Oh yes! EP2, emotionally, definitely. Since the beginning with the hunter, and the end with the advisor. Amazing stuff.

Well, I'm afraid to set my expectations too high, but at the same time, I don't know what to expect! Valve hasn't failed us (or even unimpressed, for that matter).

TF2 was the first game I played when I got the Orange Box. I still love playing the spy. :)
