😱 I had totally missed that post of his :pfff:

I had seen he had a 4870 512 in his last build option so suggested the GTX 260...

If it is like you said it will just be for 90% Photoshop, jaguarskx is right...Stick with the 9600GT or even better the 4670...
But if you like some bit of gaming, then get the 4770/4830...

Since TS stated no gaming in any shape/form i agree: get a CUDA enabled GPU and for your needs a simple GF8300 IGP would do? So if you looking for massive savings and go for small footprint quad workstation box:

The PSU may not be top class but for an IGP rig.....

just because he's not gaming, doesnt meant he can't get a i7 there batuchka.

Stick with the i7 rig (for the last time, it outrates the PII in photoshop), lower your gpu.

Ok, I switched the gpu to a 4670, and my cost is lowered to $1168.90, which will be fine.

My last questions would be:

Since I've heard of CUDA before, are there any Nvidia CUDA gpu's for the same price as the 4670 that would outperform it, or is it the best bang for the buck?

Next, with the combo deal I can get either of these two motherboards for the same price:

DFI LANPARTY JR X58-T3H6 LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Is one better then the other? The DFI has better rating percentages on newegg, but it also has a far lower number of ratings... the 20 "1 egg" ratings on the ASUS board are kinda scary, and I'd be pretty upset if I got a defective board, as I'd really like to have the machine up and running by next week. Thoughts?

As far as the gaming goes, the most it will ever see, is maybe a few older games to tide me over until I buy a dedicated gaming system. The only ones it would see are ones that I already play on my current gaming system (a pentium 4 1.5Ghz, 512 RAM, 9600GT --- games like FarCry, FEAR, Doom3, maybe WoW and of course Warcraft 3 and Starcraft), just on higher graphical settings.

I would go with the P6T 100%. The low ratings are DoA boards, or people who are completely stupid and don't know what they're doing. There is a risk of DoA boards with any manufacturer, but i've heard nothing but good things about the P6T. I own the deluxe version and it's fantastic.

On another note, Dell has their 22" 1920x1080 monitor on sale for 139.99, so I might be switching out the ASUS for that one.

dell monitors are generally of excellent quality...if they're running a good sale like that I would say go for it.

You don't need newegg's warranty if you have to pay for it. ASUS and Newegg have legendary customer service...if your board is DoA then you can RMA it through Newegg and ASUS will send you another one with no questions asked.

Good to hear.

The sale is through the dell.com website, not newegg 🙁 Hopefully it won't take much longer to ship. I'll probably be ordering everything today.

Kyle, i would definately buy a corei7 myself if i had the cash. Although, i would try looking at the Gigabyte Mobo X58. If you know how to overclock your memory just right you will have an unstoppable machine. Just make sure you use the best ratio. Also, running a corei7 on 3.5 on air is GOLD! Just a sugestions ^_^

I found the monitor deal on www.slickdeals.net They have pretty good stuff posted pretty often, if it's what your looking for.
