Hi gals and lads,

I have an i9 7940x with watter cooling kraken x42, amd when playing for example gta5 online the temp goes to 100°C... not on all cores but especially on the last one (13). HW monitor shows package temp 100 - 101, and this seems high to me... tge system is not overclocked yet and works like this on defaults.

My specs are:
MOBO Mark1 x299 TUF Asus
proc i9 7940x
ram g.skill 3200 Trident
pc tower atx nzxt h440
liquid cooling kraken x42
ssd samsung evo m2 970 500Gb
ssd samsung evo sata3 860 2Tb
psu Chieftec 1450c gold powersmart
gpu rtx2080ti asus rog oc edition

Any opinions on this problematics would be great and I am thankfull for them in advance.

Regards, Primoz

Hi, yes, some from asus apps, and core temp app, they show the same temps... no difference. A also tried the prime95 stress tests but the temps went to 110 then i stopped them...

Thanks for your answer. I think x42 is not enough for these specs... still the system works fine with this temps to 100 °c. But with prime95 tests - no go. I also heard that prime 95 is not a good stress tester for these procs... But I want to be sure... I am thinking change of cooler to x62 kraken, but i am affraid that I will gain minimal difference... I would like to OC the system later...
