I have Gigabyte GA G31M-S2L mother board wiith 4 sata ports and 1 IDE port . I have one sata DVD-RW (Asus), 1 80GB WD HDD , 1 160GB Seagate IDE HDD , and 1 80GB samsung IDE HDD (newly aadded) both IDE HDD are connected with 1 IDE cable but sometimes Samsung HDD detects and Seagate is not detected and sometimes Seagated is detected and samsung is not detected I have tried every possible jumper combination bu nothing happen

Solution
One IDE drive must be configured as the Master, with the other other configured as the Slave.
If neither are boot drives it doesn't matter which is which as long as they are not both configured the same.

The Master drive should be connected to the end connector on the IDE cable.

If you configure both drives as "Cable Select" make sure the blue connector on the end of the IDE cable is connected to the motherboard otherwise Cable Select won't work.
