Ideal monitor for PS3 + Wii + PC

I've been in a bit of a conundrum for the past few weeks trying to decide on a new monitor. I'm currently using dual SAMSUNGs 19" 4:3 (1280x1024) which have been great for several years. No dead pixels no bleeding no problems of any kind.

But now I'd like to transition to something a bit bigger and with more inputs.

This is what I'd like to do with it:
-Play PS3 (so it needs HDMI)
-Play Wii (so it needs component)
-Use PC (no special requirements)

Here are the problems: The only displays I've been able to find that have HDMI and component are the SAMSUNG 27" 1920x1080 and the DELL monitors.
The SAMSUNG doesn't seem to have fared that well on Newegg reviews and I fear getting a display with a dead pixel. (You can't RMA a display with only one dead pixel, usually)

The only DELL displays that have component and HDMI have a vertical resolution greater than 1080. Which don't get me wrong, for PC use, I would love 2560x1600 or 2560x1440, or even 1920x1200. BUT, I've heard those resolutions don't scale well to 1080p and I'd like a monitor that displays 1080p media very nicely.

I'm pretty new to the display market and don't know terribly much about them.

For example, if I got some kind of component adapter (to compliment a monitor that had no component inputs), would I experience appreciable input lag when playing the Wii?

And most importantly, what's the ideal monitor for my needs? Price is not an issue.

Update:

I've ordered a Wii2HDMI converter. And I'll be purchasing an HDMI switch from fry's in the coming days.

This way I can have my Wii/PS3/PC all going into one HDMI port.

Not having to narrow down my search to displays with a component or displays with 2xHDMI will make things much simpler.

Question, do most monitors come with an audio-out jack? One that you can plug headphones or speakers into? Because with Wii and PS3 going into HDMI, I'll need some audio output from the monitor.

i was just going to suggest getting a conversion kit for the wii as you arent limiting your options now. an hdmi switch is also a nice idea as you will not have to switch inputs. since you said you havent bought a switch yet you might want to look into a model that has a 3.5mm headphone jack built in. this would mean that you do not have to limit your monitor choices to those with a 3.5mm jack. i did a google search and it found a few results so i'm sure looking on frys, newegg, wherever you can find a few.

whatever monitor you choose it must be hdcp-compliant for the ps3 to display. most are nowdays but just letting you know. if its not some people get no display.

as for the headphone jack: some do, some do not. this is something you need to look for in the specifications.

if price is no issue and you want the best in terms of viewing angles and color accuracy then get a P-IPS, S-IPS, or H-IPS type panel. note that E-IPS is on a lower quality level.

you really do not need a 120hz monitor (dual dvi) unless you plan on 3d. 60hz is fine for anything but.

I was planning on getting a switch but hadn't even though to see if they had switches with the audio jack.

Now I can just look for any monitor with an hdmi port. Might end up actually going for the 27" dell. The 30" isn't out of my price range but I think 30" will be too big. 23" is already massive and awesome.

if you plan on playing mostly 1080p content then a 1920x1080 monitor is always the best solution. a higher resolution monitor will look better for computer games at higher resolutions (if your pc can handle it) but might not look as good for your 1080p content.

personally i use a 40" 1080p television for everything. the only thing that i've found overwhelming (at first) was first person shooter games since everything is almost life sized.

Yeah. I used the 60" LG plasma as my monitor for awhile. Screen size vs. how close you can comfortably sit puts my girlfriend's 23" DELL as far superior to the 60" though.
