i'm building someone a system with an a10-7700, it will have windows 7. they'd use the machine mostly for office work and youtube, research. would 4gb of ddr3-1600 be enough for the machine to run smoothly? i know that graphics memory is shared with apus. it will have a 120 gb ssd also btw.

is the 7700 overkill anyway? the a8 7670 is a little cheaper (i'm trying to minimize cost for them) and it also has a slightly higher clock speed (3.6 vs 3.4)

lastly- sorry to post a thousand questions- can anyone recommend a good an inexpensive SSD? i've been searching newegg, there are some for 40 bucks and they are sata3, 120 GB.. but you get what you pay for i guess?? i definately want at least 60 gb.. but ideally i'd like to give them 90gb+, but not over 50 bucks.

thanks.

If your not gaming, then don't even get the K skus. Go with the A8-7600. It will be good for your needs.

As for RAM. Get 8GB of 2133mhz RAM. You can find these kits for just as cheap if not cheaper than 1600mhz kits, so definantly get the higher speed when possible. As for capasity, always ALWAYS go with 8GB or more! 8GB is going to be the new standard in the next year or two, plus it doesn't hurt.

A good inexpensive SSD that I've used is the Samsung 120GB 850 EVO. It is FAST! I built a machine with one and it booted into windows in about 8 secconds.

hey. thanks for your reply. ok, i'll go with the 7600. the drive, is just a little out our range. is there a cheeper one you know of? 40 was a great price, the one you suggested is about 65. coupled with the memory which is about 20 bucks higher than the 4gb is was going to get them, that's an almost 50 buck increase. the person really isn't a computer person and i don't want them to spend any more money than absolutely necessary- though still want a decent one. but with my parts, it ran about 200 bucks (reusing their psu and case). which is perfect.

sucks that you cant find 2x3gb memory kits though. that would be perfect. but, especially given going with the a8 over the a10, i mean would 4gb do it for youtube and office, allocating maybe 512 to a gb of memory for graphics?
