I recently built a new desktop and went with a 5600G since I didn't have the money for a GPU at the time. The performance is suprisingly good but falls down quite badly in some games, so I was planning on getting a GPU now that I have some money to spare. I'm capping my budget at £350 and it won't be used for anything above 1080p. I was looking at an RX 6650XT but a friend told me the performance increase would be negligable, so I was wondering what other people thought. Thanks in advance for any advice.

yah a 6600 or 6600 xt is as high as i'd go for that budget. the xx50 models were minimal gains for more power draw.

you can stay under $300 and get a 6600xt easy enough which is more than plenty for 1080p. on the nvidia side the 3060 is similar but closer to $400 and not worth it for the same performance.

Weirdly the 6600XT has more or less dissappeared in the UK, at least according to PCPartPicker, so the 6650XT is easier to get. Do you think the performance boost would be significant enough?
