Hello
Either I have made a change, or possibly a program I have downloader, but my
pc had been set up to where if there is "X" amount of time the pc is idle, it
will power itself down, and then, when returning to the pc, as soon as the
mouse is moved, the pc springs open.
I have been to the options pages to try to set this but it hasn't helped.
Does anyone have any suggestions to this problem?Either I have made a
change, or possibly a program I have downloader this problem?
Also, once again, either I have made a change, or possibly a program I have
downloaded, in the address window, the sites I have typed in are missing when
I do a shutdown and start back up.
I use this feature to fetch certain addresses rather than putting a shortcut
icon on the desktop.
Help, please.

Thanks for any assistance or suggestions.

These are two separate issues. Regarding the idle time power down, I'm not
sure what options page you mean, but you can change it in display
properties--assuming, as I think, that you mean the monitor springs to life.
Right click on your desktop and select "properties". Click the "screen
saver" tab. Towards the bottom right of that window, there is a button
labeled "power". After clicking the button, you can change monitor and other
power saving settings. By selecting "never", you can turn them off.

Regarding the missing typed addresses, again I'm making assumptions. If you
mean those typed in the address window of Internet Explorer, there are
several products that are designed to delete this information. One is Window
Washer and another is Evidence Eliminator. It used to be easy to delete the
history, but it really doesn't matter where they went: they're gone. If it
doesn't save the new ones you type, chances are you've downloaded a program
that deletes them automatically.

Kathea,
Thank you for your reply.
I went to the location you mentioned and here are the selections:
Turn Off Monitor -------- After 15 minutes
Turn Off Hard Disks --------After 3 hours
System Standby ----------After 2 hours
System Hibernate ------- Never

On my old pc running Windows 98, the pc would power down, but as soon as the
mouse was moved, or any key pushed, it would immediately respond and come on.

On the other problem, I must have installed a program that had the typed in
Address locations to where it removed them when the pc did a cold start .....
It wasn't either of the programs you mentioned that had that feature.

I'll keep trying to work with this.

I do appreciate your response

Thanks,
Amber
