Idle Temp of 41C Good Or Bad?

Hello!

I recently built a computer and see that my cpu temperature stays a a solid 41C when nothing is open and the computer is idle. Is this ok? I have this as my cpu cooler http://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Freezer-Rev-Cooler-Multi-Directional/dp/B002G392ZI

41C for idle temperature is fairly high. Did you apply the thermal paste properly? Also what is your cpu?

Depending on the processor, 41C is warmer than normal for idle. But that could be caused by poor air flow, bad TIM application, or improper cooler mounting. What CPU is it sitting on?

i would be more worried about you load temps 41 is ok its pretty warm but nothing to worry about.

But check your load temps and report back

What do you mean by loads?

Like when you play a demanding game and runs the cpu almost max or when yo do a stress sets like prime95 or occt that runs the cpu at 100% load

Run the default test with this: http://www.mersenne.org/download/
Watch the CPU core temps during the run. Stop the test if it the cores go over 61C. It can take higher temps, but there's no sense pushing it for now. All we are after is to see if it is running hotter than it should.

A better way to check temps is to use AMD Overdrive. It will show the distance you have to the max temp, know as the thermal margin: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/amd-overdrive/Pages/overview.aspx
