Sorry if this is a dumb question, but would a power cable be needed to power a keyboard that is backlit, or would batteries be used? Also, for wired keyboards, typically, how long are the USB cords? Thanks.
Umm, wireless keyboards are battery powered, consequently not needing an external power lead for led back lighting, or it would kind of defeat the purpose of being 'wireless'. Just saying.
Keyboards are powered by their respective connections, be it USB or ps/2. Leds take @2w-4w for a foot long strip, so easily accommodated by either battery or wired power source.

Okay. Also, I plug in the keyboard to the computer itself, not the monitor, right?

yes, why would you think you plug the keyboard into the monitor? is it an all in one computer?

Depends on the monitor. There are more than a few that have blow through USB connections, so if you have a short keyboard cable, you can hook it up to the monitor. Some keyboards have audio jack's for headphones and microphone or like my keyboard has headphone, microphone and USB, so would be a good place for a Bluetooth dongle when using a Bluetooth mouse or phone connection. There's different ways of doing things, it really depends on personal taste and the possible connections.
