If a router is connected to a other router than is the setup work fine

Hii everybody
I’m using cable broadband and I have 2 desktop. So I was using a DLink DIR-600 (http://www.dlink.co.in/products/?pid=348).
It has 4, RJ45 port for connecting peripherals and 1, RJ45 for connecting internet (see the link’s pic there has a RJ45 labeled as INTERNET in grey colour).

So I connected my cable broadband’s LAN cable to that INTERNET port of DIR-600. AND 2 pcs on those peripheral port. It was working fine.

But now I want to shift to WAN broadband so ISP will give ADSL modem+router which will have single RJ45 port.

Now if I connect this ADSL modem+router to that INTERNET port of my DIR-600, will it work fine???

Actually I was thinking that DIR-600 is itself a ROUTER and the ADSL will also have a ROUTER inbuilt. SO if I connect a ROUTER to a other ROUTER then what will be??? Will this setup work fine???

Please reply. If the setup works fine then please elaborate. Is my computer will find 2 network for 2 routers???????

yes if you do this it will work fine BUT you will need to disable the DHCP on the one NOT connected to the phone line

most moden ADSL routers have 4 or 5 45 ports on them (not all but most)

We have a similar setup at my work, although as opposed to a cable between the routers we have one downstairs pointing to the one up stairs via wireless.

This should work, make sure you turn off the DHCP on the DIR-600.

To elaborate for you:

Your computer will connect to the DIR-600, however this is not where your internet comes from. The DIR-600 simply directs any requests that it cannot complete (google is not on your local network so the DIR-600 would not be able to find it) to your ADSL Modem + Router which in turn directs the request to your ISP and finally the website is reached.

This is why you must disable DHCP. DHCP will cause your DIR-600 to try and perform the same tasks as the ADSL Modem (DIR-600 is not configured for the internet so it can't anyways, only to point to the next router) when all you want is for it to act as a relay, and forward the requests to your modem.

Essentially yes, ADSL is your main router, your DIR-600 simply points to it (SLAVE, if you will). You've got it right setting the "Internet Settings" of the DIR-600 to the IP of the MASTER. One thing I had to do with the one at work was to set the IP of the SLAVE to be on a different network.

Main router was 192.168.0.1
Slave was 192.168.10.1

This needed to be done to keep the WAN from conflicting with LAN. As long as the SLAVE is pointed to MASTER you will still acheive a connection.

I don't know why you would need to connect two SLAVES.

My purpose is solved in your first reply. but I'm asking you to gathering more info only. If i connect two slave in a MASTER then theoritically SLAVE1 device cant access SLAVE2.

As far as I know I don't think they can.
