Probably next year i'll buy an i5 6600k and replace the motherboard and also a new install of windows.
I just need to know if i can just stick with that motherboard

Solution
Yes you dont need to change motherboard from i5 6600k to i7 6700k. they are both in socket lga 1151 so any mobo that support lga 1151 is fine.

You are getting a unlocked cpu so you plan to overclock right? then a z170 motherboard is perfect with your cpu it supports overclocking the unlocked processor. but if you will not buy a unlocked processor then a z170 motherboard is just a waste of money instead buy a h170/b150 and buy a better gpu.

Arknex,

Yes, you can use the same motherboard. But one recommendation, if it is a z170 motherboard, get the K version so that you can overclock. If it's not, get a non-k CPU, no point in getting a K cpu if your motherboard can't overclock. Saves you money.

Which mother board do you have mate? Because in order to over clock the i7 6700k you need a z170 chipset motherboard .and the i7 support better that chip . Only with that chip you can over lock or you the boost clock otherwise you may wanna buy new motherboard . Please which motherboard do you have? Answer me and I will tell you if you will need to upgrade. 😀
