I currently have a pentium g4400 as my cpu and I want to upgrade to a i5 7500. Are there any components that will need to be changed in any way once I upgrade and will my windows still work?

Solution
You will need a BIOS upgrade for the motherboard to support a 7th gen processor. What motherboard do you have?

No other component will need upgrading. As for Windows still working, it will depend. It most likely would, unless you get unlucky. I would still back up all data, in case it doesn't work. But usually a CPU swap doesn't require a fresh install. Also link your Windows license to your Microsoft Account, so that you won't need to buy another product key in case a fresh install is required.

What is your motherboard?
Look for the cpu support list for your motherboard.
Likely, you will need a current bios level for aI5-7500 to work.
CPU-Z will tell you what you have now and the bios level.

Past that a cpu change will not require you to do anything else.
Windows will not require reactivation. It does so only after a motherboard change.

I have a MSI B150M PRO-VH motherboard
