So I am pretty sure my front audio jack on my pc is broken, as microphones on my computer never work( I have done literally everything to try fix this). I was wondering if i got a 3.5mm to usb adapter, would this fix my microphone problem?
If you mean plug in a usb to your computer and then plug the 3.5mm jacks from your headphone into the usb, then yes. I did that on my laptop which had a messed up on board sound, but note that it won't use your motherboard or sound card audio. The usb adapter has its own sound card.
The 3.5mm to USB adapter is likely an external sound card, in which case as long as the correct drivers are installed, it should work.
Another option would be to potentially replace the front panel ports. Most cases have the front panel ports on a separate board which may be available from the manufacturer for the same price (or cheaper) as a USB sound card.
