If my motherboard only suports up to 2400 ram if i put in 2800 will it just underclock it?

I found some really cool looking ram that I really want to get but it is 2800 and my motherboard only supports up to 2400 if I put it in will it just underclock the ram or will it just no work.

Assuming the RAM is correct for your board, it will run at the default SPD speed. Unless you OC it to 2800MHz.

Yes it is the right ram it is 288 dim for a b250
