Im building unRAID on GA-H97-Gaming 3 (rev. 1.0), it says it doesnt support ECC RAM, but Im buying a XEON CPU [from compatibility list] so if the memory controller is on CPU, can I install ECC ram if I install XEON CPU?

ECC Memory Supported ‡

ECC Memory Supported indicates processor support for Error-Correcting Code memory. ECC memory is a type of system memory that can detect and correct common kinds of internal data corruption. Note that ECC memory support requires both processor and chipset support." https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/88046/intel-xeon-processor-e3-1285-v4-6m-cache-3-50-ghz.html

Since your chipset doesn't support ECC, you cannot use ECC RAM with that Xeon.
Thats sucks, but I want to understand soemthing that I always wondered, ECC RAM wont work at all, wont be deteced or it can work as regualr RAM iwth ECC Disabled? How it goes?

You might be able to get an ECC UDIMM to work in that motherboard. However, there is not guarantee it will work and you will be paying extra for a feature that you cannot use at all.

The thing is you can get 32GB of DDR3 server ram for around 100$ and regualr gaming kit will be tad more expensive, actually 32GB DDR4 kit can be found cheaper on newegg then DDR3.
