Ive been suffering from this bug for years, having to reboot to fix it each time. No one had any answers that I could find online. I figured it out and know how to fix it for myself every time now without a reboot, so I hope this helps others. Its a simple fix, just allow windows to reboot your sound services. You can do this easily by right clicking on your sound icon in the system tray on the bottom right. Then allow windows to troubleshoot your sound issues. Then let it restart your sound services and it should fix it for you. If you know an easier way then please let me know, but it takes about 30 seconds to do the way I listen.
Hope this helps someone, I know it made me very happy to find this fix by myself.
