Hi there,

This is my video card:

Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7970 OC 3GB GDDR5 DVI-I/HDMI/2x Mini-Displayport PCI-E 3.0 Graphics Card GV-R797OC-3GD

and I'm always using the latest driver from AMD.

What I got so far playing games through Steam:
- playing old games, those that usually need Directx < 9, like Rise of Nations: desktop restarting after some minutes playing the game;
- or even playing Company of Heroes 2: monitor goes into standby mode, and none of the possible actions taken got it back online;

and after have lost several hours of gaming reading internet posts and trying to find the root cause of these symptoms, I have stressed the following setup of the Radeon Settings and now the system is 100% fine:

So, if you already have checked and/or reinstalled the desktop's power unit, fans, bios, drivers, the windows, the game, and nothing seems to get your desktop back to normal, try the Radeon settings above. Basically, its disable every single AMD parameter, leaving the decision to the game to enable it or not.

Hope this can save your precious hours of gaming :)

Cheers !
