Ignition key in "Outrunners"

Folks,

I am back new to MAME Win32 (have been using it shortly a couple of years
ago).

I am trying to play "Outrunners", but can't even start the main game.
It says "Turn ignition key" after inserting coins. How to do that?
I tried lotsa keys and no matter where I slap the keyboard, it won't start.
Can't find anything further.

Any ideas?

On games like Outrunners, the P1 start button was a large key. Try
hitting '1' on the keyboard (or whatever you have mapped as P1 start).
You may even need to hold it down for a brief moment, I can't remember.
