I'm confused and scared.

I recently build a new PC and it won't post... I'm scared it is the CPU because I thought it was the motherboard because the CPU worked in my last motherboard that I used in a build I made for a friend. So I tried another and still no post.. I have a corsair h60 and a i5 4590 in a MSI h87 g43 with a GS 800 PSU 2 sticks of 4gb hyperX ram all in an NZXT s340. No GPU installed yet

Your motherboard likely does not have the bios revision that makes your CPU officially compatible. To update the bios, you need a compatible CPU. Or you could purchase a bios chip with a compatible bios revision from MSI, if they sell them. Contact MSI support and ask them.
