Question I'm getting mouse dropouts and in-game stutter ?

Just upgraded my CPU to a 5600x w/ an A520 mobo and have been having very annoying mouse dropouts during specific gameplay moments. The dropouts themselves are almost as if the mouse disconnects for a second, though I don't get the windows disconnect sound. This has been tested with several mice both wireless (dongle) and wired. All tested mice work fine on other setups. I haven't done any overclocking and all temps/usages are normal during gameplay. All bios/chipset/graphics drivers are up to date.

PC:
Mobo: Gigabyte A520M S2H - Bios Ver. F19d
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X 120 Refined SE
GPU: Gigabyte Windforce OC Geforce GTX 1060 6gb
RAM: 16gb (2x8) 3200mhz Teamgroup T-force Vulcan Z
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GX2 600W (bought new a month ago)
Storage: Samsung 850 evo 250gb SSD
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T ATX Mid Tower Case
Monitor: Asus VG248QE (144hz)
Mouse: Razer Orochi V2/ others
Windows 11

Important things I've noticed through testing:
  • Issues only occur in multiplayer fps/tps games (Overwatch, Apex, Warzone), can't reliably replicate issues in singleplayer titles (Cyberpunk, RDR2, etc.)
  • Dropouts/ stutter only occur during intense peaks in gameplay. Ex: Teamfights in Overwatch where a bunch of players are close together shooting at each other - rest of the match it's fine. Same for other pvp titles; intense fights with other players = dropouts.
  • When I unplug/plug my headphones from the front panel the game itself hiccups/ drops frames. This happens 100% of the time.
  • Using a USB extension cord so that the dongle was right by the mouse seemed to slightly lessen the wireless mice stutters.

Through a lot of googling it seems to (maybe) be a known usb/power issue with various Gigabyte motherboards, though I'm still not sure that's my problem. Here's an example of people discussing it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/ju0p0g/stay_away_from_gigabyte_b550_x570_motherboard_if/

So after looking through lots of discussion here's what I've tried:
  • Reconnecting all usb ports/ trying different ones on both front and back
  • Uninstalling/ reinstalling all games where issue was present consistently.
  • Updating Bios to most recent version (F19d)
  • Disabling/ enabling XMP
  • Changing PCIE from AUTO to Gen 3 in BIOS
  • Updating mouse drivers
  • Enabling/disabling C-states in BIOS
  • Enabling/disabling AMD Cool & Quiet in BIOS
  • Trying different power plans in windows
  • Fresh windows install
  • Going from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and visa-versa

Things I haven't tried (that I can think of)
  • Messing around with voltages (don't really know what I'm doing, kinda scary)

Updating BIOS and changing PCIE to Gen 3 seemed to work for many, but not all, and none of it has worked for me. Maybe it's a CPU problem instead? I'm at my wits end here and am starting to regret going the AMD route. About to just buy a new board but wondered if anyone here has any ideas.

Any help appreciated thanks.

Hey there,

Did you clear CMOS after the bios update? If not, you need to do that to be sure the bios has taken correctly. You will know when it's reset properly (CMOS Clear/CL_RTC) as you will be presented with a different boot screen than normal, which will prompt you to go back to the bios and reconfigure it.
No I didn't clear cmos after. Does that involve taking the motherboard battery out and waiting a few minutes (just did some quick googling)? In bios it does list F19d as the current bios, though I don't remember getting any prompt. I'll look into it a bit more and try it out. Thanks for the info!
