im gonna built a new skylake pc should it work with my old WD blue 1t bootdrive Win7?

i sold my old pc without harddrive and my question is can i use my old WD blue harddrive with win 7 without problems for a first time built or are not? i heard something about updating windows update but im not sure. thanks in advance

Yep should be fine, but you will have to make sure that you install the driver discs that will come with your motherboard and your graphics card

But there shouldn't be a problem at all, worst case scenario you'll just have to uninstall the old graphics drivers so that no driver conflicts happen

As your Win was installed on a computer with completely different hardware, you can't really expect your new system to boot just fine.
Of course, you can try, but I believe you will get a BSOD or something.

It would be best to just back up your data and perform a clean OS installation.

so buying lets say a ssd should solve the problem? i dont want to lose my data i have important documents on it. thanks for helping me btw

In that case if all you have is a hard drive, try backing up important stuff onto a laptop, otherwise just buy the new stuff, stuff the hard drive you have in the new PC and hope for the best
