[SOLVED] im having a start up problem

im fixing a friends computer and sadly its a mac its basically brand newer macbook Pro he used it like twice for like a half hour but the problem is when you start it up the little start up bar goes about a quarter of the way then the computer turns off im not sure if i should take it apart cause of the warrenty or should i just have him send it back to apple please help
