Question I'm looking for an audio splitter for my PC as I use 2 different sets of headphones for different purposes.

I already have an audio splitter (linked below) but I'd prefer one that has a side-to-side switch instead of the push button switch because after some use the switch (in my experience) has gotten hard to change between states. I'm probably explaining this very poorly, but when the button is already down, it is difficult to get it back up, so I would like to find a splitter that instead has a side to side switch.

The new splitter cannot be TRRS only, as one set of headphones is TRS, and the other has a comically short cord that will constantly get in my way if it is used in TRRS mode. I want to be able to plug them in JUST as it shows in the item in the link, microphone and headset for EACH set, not just a single TRRS plug for each. I just want to not have both sets of headphones plugged in at once.

Have you thought about replacing the switches? I presume that'd be a simple soldering and desoldering job.

I'm not very mechanically inclined and don't know how hard it would be to do something like that. Are there tutorials on how to do something like that? Where would I find the alternate switch?

Plenty of tutorials on YouTube and the www on how to desolder something off a PCB and resolder something to the PCB. As for the switch, you will nee take measurements of your switches, then look for a latching push button switch. I would visit your hardware store/Radio Shack/electronics depot that cater to DIY projects.

Mind you, I said latching since I'm seeing from the illustrations for the splitter to have the button depressed when you push down on it, to close the circuit. You might need to study the circuitry and the switch up close.

Part of me also thinks you're overdoing it with the splitter. Mind sharing your audio equipment and how they're all tethered to your platform?

Okay, so I have my PC, which sits beside my desk. I plug in to the rear audio ports because the front ports on my case aren't great. Anyways, I have a set of headphones that I use that have a detachable microphone. The headphones end in a TRRS connection that is plugged into a splitter that separates the input line and output line so I can plug into both the mic and headphone ports. My mother is hard of hearing and has a set of headphones that she uses that she has to turn the volume of the computer up to hear anything she watches on the computer. I keep the volume on 8-12 windows volume, while my mother needs it at >40, and I can hear whatever she has playing from across the room if I just leave both sets of headphones plugged in.
