Hello. I want to build a gaming desktop for Sims 4 with all packs and mods/custom content. I want to play Sims at the highest setting possible. I will also be playing other games as well. I really need help on choosing which parts for the best performance but I don't want to pay extra for unnecessary things. My budget is $2000 or lower.

Solution
This will do nicely. Nice deals here too if you purchase soon.

Just slightly beyond what you need but since you have the budget it's always worth going this route.

Hi and welcome to the forum, summer.sdm!

1. Firstly list which other games you'll likely play in the future and anything other than gaming you intend to use the PC for.

2. Let us know which country you're buying in. If you prefer to/must buy from a specific shop/website, send a link!

@Saucydrip I'm guessing you mean the R5 2600X? The biggest issue with Mini ITX for factor is heat so I would personally avoid going from 65watts to 95watts, especially since it would make only slight differences to performance in the OP's usage.

@Budge414... you can get a used 1070
Good call. Used parts are great value and many PC components come with a minimum 3 year warranty. A GTX 1070 is more than what is required here but it never hurts to front up the cash for an upgrade.

The only problem with current used graphics cards is the fact that many were previously crypto-miners, and the only way to know for sure is by the seller being trustworthy and making mention of it. It's not the end of world but I'd prefer not to have a card that spent it's life running hot and fans constantly spinning.

@summer.sdm If you do want to go for used parts just be sure to request an invoice. I'm unsure how returns work in America but I'm assuming you'll need it to claim warranty. Otherwise you can use the serial number of the product, however this would go from the date of manufacture and that could have been months prior to purchase from the store!
