Hello guys. I'm looking to upgrade my PC and need advice with what components should suit the best in my current setup. I'm mostly looking at upgrading my CPU and my GPU without needing to upgrade my motherboard. I'm playing LoL at a semi-professional level and currently i'm playing on hardly 50-60 FPS. I'm playing games like H1Z1 KOTK and GTA 5 Online. I don't have such a great budget, but i'm looking forward to every tip from you guys. I want to run those games in 60FPS with no frame drops and no problems. I would prefer a 6-core or an 8-core as my CPU and a GPU that doesn't bottleneck with the setup. Thanks a lot guys!

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970 Gaming Socket AM3+
GPU: Sappthire Radeon HD 5700 Series
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 640 3.00ghz
RAM: 8.00GB HyperX Black Limited Edition
PS: Recom Power Engine 550 Plus

Well your 6 or 8 core desire clearly points to an AMD Ryzen setup then as there is NOTHING budget about Intel 6 or 8 core setups. You just need to do a bit of research on the RAM as Ryzen setups are more sensitive to RAM quality and timings than are Intel setups. This is a bad time to be trying to buy a mid range new GPU thanks to all the currency miners snapping up mid range cards and driving their prices up though.

For you're upgrade and since you mainly play league, a Radeon rx560 or GTX 1050ti should suit you just fine, alternatively you could go for a GTX 1060 for those higher end games you have, should be fine at 1080p. As for a CPU, perhaps an fx8350 or 8370 for all that 8 core goodness.

Its just too old to replace the CPU and keep the MOBO.

If you are really concerned about League and want to stick to a budget, an i3 based build can get you buy at the lowest price point. However, to try and play GTA V at a smooth 60FPS is going to require a Ryzen 1400 or greater from AMD or an i5 or greater from Intel coupled with a modern mainstream GPU like a 1060 6GB or a 1070.

so can you be more specific on a budget and the overall goal? like which games are the real concern?

First and foremost, change that PSU, it's not a reliable unit.

Second, drop in a GTX750Ti if all you're playing is Esports titles (at 1080p). If you want more oomph, then the GTX1050Ti will be a better investment.

Third, you will need to keep in mind that the case needs to have proper airflow if you'd like to drop in an 8000 series processor part since they are over a 125W TDP's but the FX-8370E is a good candidate on that board of yours.

Mind sharing a link to those ram kit?

If you want to migrate to a current gen Intel build, you can do so with a G4560 and a B250 chipset.

this is also very true. If you are gonna just target smooth League gameplay and then jsut take whatever benefit you can get in the other games the recommendation of the 1050/1050ti is good. Personally i wouldnt even upgrade the CPU for league.

I have a spare PC that maxes league easily going over 60FPS with a Phenom xII and a Radeon 6950 1GB

Without changing your board ??

60fps constant on GTA v isnt going to happen mate.

On a budget a fx 6300 & a 1050ti is what you should be looking at.
That should net you 50fps on AAA titles.

I'll second what others have said about the PSU , that's your choice though.
Pure spec wise it will run the above combo.

I don't need to run GTA 5 on 60FPS, but at least LOL and h1z1 to work decently without it dropping below 60 frames and make it unplayable

I am looking to play lol and h1z1 on a decent, medium range pc, not something too expensive like an 1070, it doesn't have to run gta 5 on 60 constant, but at least it should be able to run lol and h1z1 without dropping frames. GTA 5 works at an average of 40 FPS right now, h1z1 at 50-60 and lol above 60 fps until late game.

You are looking just for an upgrade correct? not an entirely new pc? what would your budget be so i can get a good read on what would be best for you.
